First Light Seattle:
Custom Walnut Island Extension
Designed for a premier waterfront condo in Seattle, this project balances high-end minimalism with organic warmth. Developed in collaboration with Renate Ruby—creative visionary and owner of Brume—this piece was born from her original concept to elevate the existing kitchen island into a sculptural centerpiece.
Design & Craftsmanship
Material: American Black Walnut, provides a rich contrast to the home’s monochromatic palette.
Waterfall Extension: A continuous plank wraps the island ensuring the wood grain flows seamlessly from horizontal to vertical surfaces.
Architectural Detail: Features a refined chamfered edge and a signature matte finish to emphasize the natural timber texture.
Integrated Storage: Two nested drawers are concealed within the extension, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted silhouette.
Custom Interior: Hand-carved cutlery dividers provide bespoke organization inside the walnut drawers.
The result: a functional kitchen island transformed into a natural gathering point—perfect for morning coffee overlooking Elliott Bay. Proof that the right custom element can redefine a luxury space without full renovation.
