Custom Walnut Island Enhancement

Located in one of Seattle's premier waterfront luxury condominiums, this First Light condo kitchen needed warmth without disrupting its minimalist aesthetic. I designed a custom walnut waterfall extension that wraps the existing island, introducing high contrasted Walnut texture through a continuous plank detailing a chamfered edge, hiding two nested drawers, with carved interior for cutlery.

The precision mitering ensures the grain flows seamlessly from horizontal to vertical surfaces, creating visual continuity. American Black Walnut was selected for its rich tones that bridge the interior's monochromatic palette with the natural Pacific Northwest views beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The result: a functional kitchen island transformed into a natural gathering point—perfect for morning coffee overlooking Elliott Bay. Proof that the right custom element can redefine a luxury space without full renovation.
